Following on from successful 'Missing Middle Housing' design competitions being held in Michigan and Chicago, the NSW Department of Planning & Environment has launched its own competition seeking high-quality, innovative design solutions for low-rise medium density housing.
The Department of Planning yesterday released a draft suite of documents aimed at elevating the role of design in delivering quality developments, in particular, multiple dwellings and mixed use developments. The collection of draft documents includes SPP 7 — design of the built environment. As part of Design WA, this draft policy will replace part 6 of the Residential Design Codes WA (R-Codes) which specifically relates to multiple dwelling developments.
The Western Australian Planningbrou Commission (WAPC) adopted a revised version of Development Control Policy 1.10 – Freeway Service Centres and Roadhouses (DC1.10) in August 2016. The August 2016 revised Policy supersedes the original DC1.10 Policy adopted in August 2001 which has seen the development of the Baldivis Freeway Service Centre (FSC), and approval of the West Pinjarra FSC.
Planning Minister Donna Faragher today announced a number of changes to the Development Assessment Panel (DAP) system. "These changes are primarily administrative and will ensure the system remains flexible and responsive, while more clearly communicating DAP decisions to the public," she said.
